'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the dramatic dying seconds of Swansea's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear after the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range effort from distance, and the defender promptly converted the deflection before sprinting toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with fans congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This capped an incredible recovery given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the latter period. During the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result earned a next round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that far out," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after they changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they know how to dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're all right and then suddenly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be focused every second of the game. It demands a strong mentality and concentration just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Orient and has rapidly done the same in his new home. At the London club he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a spell at League Two Salford City, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was likely a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without real physicality. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for both domestically and internationally, performing well for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs fixtures against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a killer pass.

Starting Out

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's only game for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they played on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was closed owing to the weather of -15C. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he says, smiling. "The week before, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "This turned out fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I thought I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a small coach driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, another squad member, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the lads but I'm hoping to be the following person out of the minibus and driving. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on public transport after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
